For this particular screen, we highlight stocks with high dividend payouts. This report is limited to utilities, real estate investment trusts, and publicly traded limited partnerships. More specifically, we will be focusing on companies with market capitalizations of between $1 billion and $5 billion and share prices above $ 5.00. The following five companies offer some of the loftier dividend payouts among all mid-cap issues within The Value Line Investment Survey.

Windstream Corporation (WIN) is the largest domestic, rural wireline telecommunications company. It primarily provides local telephone service to over three million customers, located mainly in rural areas across 16 states. The company also operates long distance phone, Internet, product distribution, network-management, and telecom information segments. It sold a directory public business in November, 2007 and wireless operations in December, 2008. The company has 2.95 million access lines (down -5.5% during 2008). Windstream currently services 1.94 million long distance, 1.02 million broadband, and 311,600 digital television accounts.

Penn Virginia Resource Partners, L.P. (PVR) is a limited partnership formed in 2001, with operations in two business units: coal and natural gas. The company doesn’t operate any mines, but enters into leases with third-party operators that mine the coal in exchange for royalty payments. Its properties contain approximately 825 million-900 million tons of proven and probable coal reserves. In 2008, lessees produced 33.7 million tons of coal from PVR properties. Its midstream business handled over 270 million cubic feet equivalent of natural gas per day at its five processing facilities in 2008.

Buckeye Partners, L.P. (BPL), is a limited partnership engaged in common carriage transportation of refined petroleum products, including gasoline (48.7% of 2008 volume), jet fuel (25.7%), and distillates (22.0%). Its subsidiaries own and operate about 5,400 miles of pipeline serving 17 states, mostly in the Northeast and the upper Midwest. The partnership also owns a number of storage terminals, and operates pipelines under agreement for major oil and chemicals companies.

Healthcare Realty Trust Incorporated (HR) is a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust that owns and operates real estate properties and mortgages in the healthcare services sector. As of September 30, 2009 the company had about $2.2 billion invested in 206 income producing properties, and mortgages. Healthcare Realty Trust's properties total about 12.3 million square feet, and are located in 28 states throughout the United States. The company also provides managerial services to healthcare providers within the U.S.

Potlatch Corporation (PCH) is a real estate investment trust with approximately 1.7 million acres of timberlands in Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, and Oregon. It operates in three segments: Resource; Real Estate; and Wood products. In December, 2008 the company spun off its pulp, paperboard, and consumer products segments, and lumber operations in Idaho via a stock distribution, forming Clearwater Paper Corporation.
