The Value Line Investment Survey - Small and Mid-Cap
Investors by nature tend to seek the higher ground. But higher potential rewards usually mean higher risks. For those who seek the elevated profit potential of smaller company stocks, the concise, reliable information, guidance and analytical tools provided by The Value Line Investment Survey - Small and Mid-Cap are an especially indispensable resource.
The Small and Mid-Cap Survey applies Value Line’s data delivery and analysis protocols to a universe of 1,800 companies with market values from less than $1 billion to $5 billion. As with the Investment Survey Standard Edition, subscribers are delivered accurate, unbiased information, presented with clarity and conciseness, and reinforced by predictive performance indicators and analytical tools designed to foster sound investment choices.
By definition these company’s shares are often not widely held and thinly traded, making their prices more sensitive to internal setbacks, as well as to external competitive, economic or political shocks. These companies are often not covered by mainstream analysts, and reliable information about them can be scarce. Despite these risks, within this lively group lie hidden gems with the potential to emerge from obscurity into brilliant success—and yield spectacular gains.
Like Value Line’s Standard Edition, The Small and Mid-Cap Survey is published weekly, with more frequent online updates, plus a host of online searching/screening and customizable portfolio tracking features. Two main sections include:
Ratings & Reports
This section consists of our full-page company stock reports published in groups of 130-140 on a rotating weekly basis over a 13-week quarterly period in which all 1,800 reports are completely updated. Each report contains all pertinent current and historical financial results, including up to eight years of income statements; total returns; near-term consensus earnings estimates as available; charts and graphs; a detailed company description; current market statistics, and more.
Our exclusive Performance™ ranking system, like our renowned Timeliness™ ranks for larger companies, uses proprietary algorithms based on prices and earnings. It is a most useful prognosticator of 6-12 month relative price performance and a valuable tool to selection. Its predictive nature has been proven against established market indices.
Rankings of Performance are complemented by Safety™ ranks, a measure of relative risk based on financial strength and price stability—important considerations with smaller companies; Technical ranks, a gauge of short-term volatility relative to the overall market; and Beta, a barometer of historic volatility.
Summary & Index
