Dow 30 Earnings: Pfizer Fourth Quarter 2016

01/31/2017 New York-based drugmaker and Dow-30 component Pfizer (PFE) has reported fourth-quarter earnings of $0.13 a share, versus a loss of $0.03 a share in the comparable period of 2015. Meanwhile, adjusted earnings, which exclude one-time gains, charges, and other nonrecurring items, and are more closely followed by Wall Street, came in at $0.47 a share, versus $0.53 in 2015.

Dogs Of The Dow: 2016 in Review

01/30/2017 The Dogs of the Dow investment strategy produced market-beating returns for 2016. A Dogs of the Dow portfolio (consisting of equally weighted positions in the top 10 highest yielding Dow issues at the start of the year) would have risen 16% on the year. The advance was led by Caterpillar (CAT), which was up more than 35% in price, while Chevron (CVX) rose just over 30%, good enough for second-best among the Dogs. Meanwhile, the leading equity benchmarks also participated in the stock market’s 2016 advance, though the gains on the NASDAQ and the S&P 500 couldn’t measure up to those posted by the Dogs.

Stock Market Today: November 2, 2016

11/02/2016 The bearscontrolled most of Wednesday’strading. Ongoing uncertainty surrounding next week’s Presidential election continued to worry investors, leading to a selloff that persisted through mid-afternoon. Then, after 2:00 PM EDT in New York, the Federal Reserve indicated that the case for a near-term interest rate hike was strengthening, spurring a slight, if temporary, bounceback. By the end of the day, though, the uncertainty drove full-day losses in each of the three major indices. The tech-heavy NASDAQ exhibited the widest loss today, but could tick higher tomorrow if Facebook (FB) delivers on its third-quarter expectations.

11/01/2016 U.S. equities fell on the month’s first day of trading, with investor concerns ahead of next week’s election somewhat negating what has otherwise been a better-than-expected performance on the corporate earnings front. Using The Value Line Report: Pfizer Forges Ahead Despite Failed Allergan Deal

09/06/2016 Dow member and pharmaceutical heavyweight Pfizer (PFE) has been in the news plenty in recent months. The New York-based company first grabbed investor attention in a big way after announcing in November, 2015 that it was going to acquire Ireland-based maker of Botox Allergan plc (AGN) through a tax-inversion deal worth an eye-popping total of roughly $160 billion.
